pager disappears in a puff of smoke never to return

I hope some one can help with this.

I'm running the latest helix Gnome distribution and Sawfish 0.30.3.

Yesterday, the pager on my gnome toolbar gave me an error message and
exited.
No problem, I thought, just restart!  Did not work. The pager remains
absent
and sorely missed.  How do I restart it?
