helix-update as normal user

I have Helix GNOME installed on two machines, one at home and
one at work.

At home, I can run Helix GNOME Update from the system menu.
It starts and asks me for the root password before it
proceeds.

At work, if I try to run the same program, I get an error
message stating "You must be root to use Helix GNOME update."

What gives?  I installed Helix GNOME on both of these from the
same CD.
