upgrade strategy help wanted

Hi,

I want to upgrade to the newly released gnumeric, version 0.56.
However, the readme states I need:

        gnome-libs-1.0.57
        gnome-print-0.20
        gnome-xml-1.8.7
        libglade-0.13

...but I have the default rh6.1 stuff installed:

	gnome-libs-1.0.40-1
	libglade-0.6-1

...and no gnome-print or gnome-xml. I am prepared to ditch the rpms
and start fresh, but I have a few questions:

-Although the readme states gnome-libs-1.0.57 are required, this is
not even close to the latest version, 1.2.3. Can I assume I can
upgrade to 1.2.3 and it'll work?

-Am I better off trying to locate RPMs for the required packages and
upgrading (rpm -u) or ditching the RPMs and compiling myself?

-Where can I get gnome-xml? I found a libxml directory at
ftp.gnome.org/pub/GNOME/stable/sources, but no gnome-xml directory.

(-Just out of curiosity, what's bonobo?)

Thanks,
Erik
