Ncurses can be used as a replacement for termcap entries and is
probably preferable in most situations.  I don't know much about
GNUCash's setup, but if it's like a lot of modern GNU/GNOME programs,
it should tell you how to use Ncurses as a replacement for termcap. 
It may be an autoconf option, or maybe it'd be in config.h.  If the
author of GNUcash had any sense whatsoever, he'd provide an easy way
to use Ncurses, so I suggest reading some of the docs and/or run
'./configure --help' to see if it's a configure option.  If you're not
interested in this, I suggest checking out rpmfind.net for some
libtermcap RPMs, and if you hate RPMs, the termcap tar ball can be
found at any GNU mirror.
