Mime types problem

After I upgraded to gnome 1.2 Icanīt edit the mime types. Iīve tried to
delet my /.gnome directory in my home directory, but it didenīt help. I
tried to edit mpg and avi and their icon in gcc but when opening gmc
nothing has canged, the icons has not changed and itīs still the old app
that opens the files.
Anyone who has som ide what to do?
