mouse wheel sensitivity???

Greetings,

I have a quick question..How do I change the sensitivity of my mouse
wheel?  I know how to do it from .Xdefaults for specific non-gnome apps
such as netscape. But darned if I can't figure out how to change the
settings in gnome for gnome apps.  Specifically, I'm interested in
changing the setting for abiword, moving the mouse wheel scrolls the text
approximately 1/2 page!  This makes editing very jumpy.  

Any help would be greatly appreciated,
