GNOME Icon Status Report #17 -- The Stopgap

GNOME Icon Status Report

WHAT'S GOING ON?

I just post this GISR to make you a bit less angry and show you
	that we're still alive.

Well, that's what I said last time. Considering that the GISR was intended to
be a weekly affair, it's a shame that it's been more than three months since
the last one. I'm just picking up again, now that I've got some more time on my
hands.

Many icons (i.e. Panel, Applets, Development, Settings) have been replaced by
Tigert with creations of his own. I don't agree with all of his decisions, but
he is the boss of all GNOME artwork and what he says and does is the law,
basically. All of you whose icons have been replaced: don't be too angry. Your
artwork is still on my hard drive and is or will soon be on the GNOME Icon Web;
and when icon theming is finally introduced into GNOME (which is to happen Real
Soon Now), we'll be able to use many of the rejected and/or replaced icons for
new themes.

WHAT HAS BEEN DONE

There's a third GNOME PixPack for your viewing pleasure. This has already been
announced.

gEdit has got a new icon and a new logo. Alas, the logo is the icon, too, but
it's an improvement over the old Yet Another Sheet of Paper icon. Don't get me
wrong - the logo is great, it's just not so great as an icon.

The Gaby icon was finally added in all the right places.

A candidate for a Yudit icon was sent to the maintainer (Yudit is a third-party
multilingual editor).

The GNOME Terminal now has got an absolutely fabulous logo pixmap in its About
box. Check it out.

We've got candidates for GMath, the GNOME Transfer Manager, and SSH.

Eduardo's MC file type icons for RPM, DEB and SLP have all been replaced with
newer and better versions.

The bug-applet now has an icon. I don't know whether anyone uses this or
whether it is even still being actively developed, but now it's got a pretty
little icon.
