Re: can't login with root or user after 1.2 upgrade

If you can log in as any other user, you can open a terminal (sorry) and
"telinit 3" to get to a command line. Login as root and look for the old
gdm.conf which I think gets renamed to gdm.config.sav copy the current file to
another backup in case there are some changes you really need ("cp gdm.conf
badgdm.conf" ) and then "mv gdm.conf.sav gdm.conf" , then "telinit 5" and you
should be good to go, provided the gdm.conf was the problem. Oh, yeah you could
also just ftp down an older version of gdm (but I have no idea what problems
this might cause) and use rpm -e gdm(current packname).rpm and them rpm -ivh
gdm(olderpackage). Keep in mind, that updates are usually done with a good
reason so backdating might not be something you really want to do.
