A first thing to try is to upgrade the latest stable version of GNOME, 
available from ftp.gnome.org.

It sounds like this might be an X problem though, I don't know what
might be causing it. If you bought the Red Hat box set the install
support might cover it (I don't know, but you could call and ask).
Or perhaps someone here will have ideas.
