Re: Trying to install GNOME



Woops, following up myself...
On closer reading I see you do have libc6 on the system, but for some reason
the RPM database doesn't seem to know about it. Is it an older system that
was upgraded by installing tarballs rather than RPMS? On my system I
have both versions of libc provided as follows:

bash$ rpm -q --whatprovides libc.so.6
glibc-2.1.2-11                          <---- this is the RPM you want
bash$ rpm -q --whatprovides libc.so.5
libc-5.3.12-31
