gmc segfaults

I am sorry to send this msg again but I didn't get any responses the first
time and I am still stuck trying to figure out this problem

When I startx (only as root) gmc segfaults. This seems to have started after
I installed mgetty+sendfax on a RH 6.1 system. The first few lines of the
back trace from the core dump look like this...

This doesn't happen if I login as a plain user.
