I'd just like to dispute this point. I'm using Linux almost exclusively now and
am sending this very email, connected to my ISP with a PCI US Robotics
Sportster modem. It's got jumpers and everything so being PCI by itself does
not make it a winmodem. I do have it set to a particular com port etc. Not
using the PnP capabilities.
