Is is possible to open a GMC window without displaying the contents of
.gnome-desktop and enabling the right-click menu on the desktop?
This is because I sometimes want to open a gmc window as root (to
manipuate files in my root home) while I am still a normal user. So I
su to root, and type gmc, which brings up a window but also brings up
the desktop icons of root on top of my normal user icons.
