Re: Gnome and Upcoming XFree86 4.0

NOTE: I am running the Neomagic driver in 1024x768 mode with 16-bit color.

I am running 3.9.18 as well. I have only noticed a couple of problems.
As for my Gnome configuration, I have the latest stable everything from
CVS.

There are a few places where the highlighted region around a chunk of
text is wider than it should be. The text is left justified within the
highlight region. For example, when gdm2 starts up, the list of usernames
that can be selected from the list shows up like this (approximation):

miles
root

The | symbols show where the highlight begins and ends. The list should
look like this:

miles
root

I recall that this also occurs with the text below icons displayed on the
desktop by gmc.

I believe there are other instances, but once the theme is found (I am pretty
sure the problems are all related) the Gnome apps could be scanned by the
development folks for the faulty usage. Otherwise, if this is a bug in the
backward compatibility of X 3.9 series, we could just get the XFree86 folks
to fix it.

This is the only flaw I have seen thus far with XFree86 3.9.x.

I am also running Enlightment 0.16.
