Gnome-vfs is a method of accessing multiple filesystems through one api. It is
not a filesystem in itself.

I don't know what the filesystem is, but I'm sure it's a fairly standard implementation.

As miguel said, what happens when "my thesis.doc" is 100 small files? How do you
send them? 100 attachments? a tarball that the person receiving them has to
untar? What about ftping?
