The correct term is panel not "status/start".
Your panel is coredumping (crashing) GNOME then trys to restart
it but eventually gives up. I'm not sure if its a fixed number
of times of a time interval. But this is certainly what you
are seeing.

I'm not sure specifically which one but if you delete all
of them it should fix it. rm ~/.gnome*. but of cource you'll
have to set everything back up again.
