Menu problem

I've got a problem with the GNOME menu.
I turned off the AnotherLevel menu in the panel properties, but the menu
is still there.
I turned off 'keep the menus in memory', but this doesn't have any
effect.
Can someone tell me how to get rid of this unwanted menu entry.
