Yes, I believe it is... I'm suprised that KDE does this, but the reason
gmc does it is (I think) it draws the bounding box by xoring pixels on
the display. To prevent things from being screwed up it has to grab the
display and not let anything else write to it. Window managers use this
when you are draging a window in boxed mode. I believe Nautilus, the
next generation file manager, will not have this problem because it uses
a desktop window rather than using the root window. I believe that this
is what KDE does which is why your saying KDE does that suprises me.
