Error during configuration of Gnome-libs-1.2.8

Hello Gnome-experts,

./configure prints the following error-messages:

sed: file conftest.s2 line 41: Unterminated `s' command
./config.status: line 1: 30855 Broken pipe             sed -f

and so on.

The Makefile has been created with a length of 0 bytes.
I´m using a SuSE6.0-distribution (Kernel 2.0.36, glibc 2.0.7, egcs
2.91.60).

What´s going wrong and how can I solve this problem?
