Why? Is it really that hard to add another directory to a system
path variable?  I do an awful lot of hacking on the code so that
it builds not requiring an LD_LIBRARY_PATH variable.  All you need
is set the PATH.  (Hmm. Ok, so that's not on the webpage...)
