panel problem on helix

  i recently upgraded my rh6.2 box to helix gnome. everytime
  i start X, i always have 4 gnome-terms started with 2 panels,
  one on top of the desktop (containing my tasklist) and one at
  the bottom (containing my launchers and other applets). now,
  everytime i re/start my X, the bottom panel attaches itself to
  the bottom border of my 2 lower terminals and not at the bottom
  of the screen where it's configured as an bottom edge panel. i had
  to hide the panel and unhide for it to take its proper place at
  the bottom. what am i doing wrong here? thanks in advance. 

  btw, i use sawfish 0.30.
