Disable the pager?

I not a big fan of multiple desktops and well I have 1600x1200
resolution so I don't need multiple desktops. I want to still keep the
tasklist and get back the space on my panel that the pager is using. I
was able to disable the pager with GNOME 1.0.X , but now that I upgraded
to 1.2.1 I can't find any properties to disable the pager?
