upgrading to .40

well, when trying to upgrade i get these errors (i dl'd all the files -
except mc from gurulabs...mc is not available there currently)

error: failed dependencies:
        mc >= 4.5.39 is needed by gmc-4.5.39-2
        libxml = 1.0.0 is needed by libxml-devel-1.0.0-2
        libxml.so.0 is needed by gnorpm-0.8-5

mc is obvious but the others are not.  i think i had the same problem last
time i upgraded but don't remember the solution.  anyone care to offer
assistance?

and is gnome going to ever have a tool such as the MandrakeUpdate
utility in Mandrake? ;-)
