Hi,
I've been working on getting the GNOME installed for the past couple days.
I've been follwing the instructions in the FAQ for the order to build
things in and have had a moderate amount of luck at getting things going.
Anyway, here's the order of installation that the FAQ recommends up to the
point where things start to break for me. BTW, I'm running Debian 2.1
with gcc-2.7.2.3.
glib - done
gtk+ - done
imlib - done
orbit - done
gtk-doc - What's this package? I havn't been able to find it so I skipped it.
libgtop - problems, see below.
gtk-engines
gnome-libs
gnome-core
control -center
gnome-print
mc
gnome-guile
gnome-python
gnome-objc
gtk--
I downloaded libgtop version 1.1.0 and ran the configure script like the
instructions said to. All was well till these lines came up,
checking for gnome-config... no
checking for gnomeConf.sh file in /usr/local/lib... not found
configure: error:
*** GNOME was not found on this system. ***
*** If you want to use LibGTop without GNOME, you need
*** to give configure the --without-gnome parameter.
I'm not sure where I've gone wrong or if the order of the packages
above is wrong, but I don't know what to do about this. I figure since
I'm building the gnome libgtop should be built with gnome support. Does
anyone know what I should do?
I'd appreiciate any help.
Thanks in advance,

Craig
