Gnome error.

I sent this earlier, but I haven't seen it come through.  So I
apologize if this gets sent twice.

I am getting a strange error whenever I run a gnome application (eg
panel, xchat, balsa).  It's:

** ERROR **: file orbitgtk.c: line 195 (_gnorba_cookie_setup): assertion
failed:
(_gnorba_request_cookiel._buffer && *_gnorba_request_cookie._buffer)
aborting...
Aborted (core dumped)

Or for xchat:

** ERROR **: file orbitgtk.c: line 195 (_gnorba_cookie_setup): assertion
failed:
a_request_cookie._buffer
aborting...
Aborted (core dumped)

gnome-session gives me the first one several times but hangs instead of
core
dumps.

gnome-terminal runs fine.

I'm not sure about anything else.

Could someone tell me what the probelm is and how to solve it?
