Here's part of a gnomecc backtrace starting capplet. Does it help see what's wrong?

I run the rpms from gurulabs.  Lately, none of the capplets work for me 
(You know, the things you get from the gnome menu settings| desktop |
background  and such). What really puzzles me is that gnomecc will run
from the command line, but it cannot get going with capplets.

With the gnome libs, I do get a popup that gnomecc has crashed, giving
the process number.  I just learned I can get a debugger backtrace on
that process.  I see this has no symbols because the binaries in the
rpms have been stripped?  Anyway, it might give a hint about what is
going wrong on my system.
