Rebecca, you can find strace here:

ftp://ftp.cdrom.com/pub/linux/redhat/redhat-6.0/i386/RedHat/RPMS/strace-3.1-17.i386.rpm 

Install that RPM with rpm -Uvh filename.  And then do what Elliot
suggests.
