Gtop problems.

I have been having alot of problems with gtop.  I am currently using October
Gnome but this problem predated that installation by quite some time ( I was
using gnome-core 1.0.9-4 and gtop 1.0.2-2 when the problem first started). 
Basically what happens is nothing.  Running gtop just hangs and the process has
to be killed.  I get no output whatsoever.  Can anybody help?

If it jams, force it.  If it breaks, it needed replacing anyway.
