gnome-pilot and gnome-pim

I'm currently using the gnome-pim-SNAPSHOT-19991007.tar.gz that came the
gnome-pilot home page since I was curious about how it would work with the
pilot.  When I run gncal, and do a version check it tells me it's version
1.0.8.  Since we are currently at 1.0.50, what is the base source for
this?  (ie is it a hacked version of 1.0.50 or a hacked version of 1.0.8?)

Also when do you see the changes merged with 1.0.50?  Finally, how do you
get it to sync in gnomecal and gnomecard:-)
