First i would try upgrading to the latest gnome core;libs;etc.
this should do away with the panel crashes.If your running old
gnome-core your panel will shurley crash again & again.

The enlightenment theme you choose during your session can be saved
by logging out of Gnome w/ the save session checked.

The other issues im not sure of. Hope this helps
