gnome and slackware

I tried last night to build emma, found that I
needed to build more and more libraries, finally
ran out of disk space!

What I'm wondering is... if there are libraries
that Slackware 4.0 doesn't have yet that emma
requires, have any of you slackware users been
through this? Know any short cuts? :-)
