To make a rpm from a tar ball, type rpm -ta tarball.tar.gz
To make a rpm from a srpm, type rpm -rebuild rpmname.src.rpm

Note, there is a guy out there that has been working on creating updated
rpms.
You can get them from:
ftp://anakin.cse.ogi.edu/pub/gnome

As RH Labs are pretty slow for updating RPMS, I'd like to
make RPMS my
self. I can rebuild SRPMS into RPMS w/o trouble, but I'd
like someone to
tell me how simply make a SRPMS with a tar.gz ?
