xxx-config --version FYI

i find that when i upgrade a tar ball file that creats a -config file,
i MUST cp the xxx-confile that is in the new directory to /usr/bin in
order for other programs to find that the needed application has been
upgraded..at least with glib-1.2.2 and (i suspect) others.
