Greetings -
In trying to setup an ipfwadm filter on my workstation I've run into some interesting behavior with gnome 1.0.
I found this by setting my filters, rebooting and having Gnome 1.0/Enlightenment 0.15 hang about 3/4 of the way into its startup. I then switched to Gnome 1.0/Windowmaker and the same thing happened. So when the system hung the second time I hit ctrl+alt+F1 to bring up the console and there was a very strange network command that was hung. Here is the command:
SESSION_MANAGER=local/mymachine.domain.com: /tmp/ICE.unix/390, tcp/mymachine.domain.com:1025
(i've replaced the real name of my workstation with mymachine.domain.com)
I hit ctrl+c to kill X and then tried it again. I found that the 390 and 1025 (both port addresses?) would change everytime. Does anyone have any idea what this is and why would gnome be establishing what looks like a loopback tcp connection.
Thanks,
Scott
