I'd like to add my voice to this as a polite request, for the many
current and future laptop users of Linux and Gnome.  I know there are
laptops out there that can support resolutions higher than 800x600.  
However, it would be nice if apps were designed such that they had
800x600 in mind to begin with, or request the screen dimensions and
scale themselves accordingly.

P.S.  I'm still working on that "out-of-the-box" RH5.2/Gnome step-by-step
list.  I got floored by a particularly nasty cold last week, and haven't
been able to stare at a screen for any length of time lately.
