Newbie Question

Ok, I have a newbie question to ask, and I hope it hasn't been asked
before, but I just want gnome/enlightenment to come up when I start X,
because sometimes I forget to close all my windows before I log out,
then I get TONS of stuff when I return.  Is there a config setting, or
something else I have to do.
