Dont use -U (which is upgrade) on glib and gtk+. You want to keep
glib/gtk+ 1.0.x for the old apps that still needs them. If you do:

rpm -ivh glib* gtk+*

then you install these but keep the old ones too. Then you should be
able to upgrade the rest of the packages.
