question about gnome look.

Isn't there any plan to resize gnome-panel and desktop icons ?
i think those are too big. they occupy a great amount of desktop.
it would look much better if the icon size is same as windows and if the
panel size is some or less smaller.
i think programming environment is very inportant for desktop environment. but
the look and feel is as much important as it.
