ESD trouble

Greeting to all,

after starting GNOME If I do ps ax

I see

9868   1 S    0:00 esd -nobeeps

In this case I cannot play MP3 I have to kill this and start esd -as 2 or something like that can anybody tell me where esd is started so I can modify the startup line
