People are just trying to help, since it's really fairly unlikely that
anyone will write what you want just because you suggested it (though they
might write it because lots of people suggest it, or because they want the
tool themselves). So it's worth suggesting something but don't expect
someone to write back and say "OK, I'll write that now." People do think
twice before starting multi-month projects. :-)

You've started a discussion, and that will get people interested and
thinking about the issue. About the best you could hope for.
