Menus (or control sequences), probably. I'm happy for the editor to
retain a valid document always (as opposed to XEmacs, say, which
stores any old text, which may or may not be valid in whatever DTD I'm
using).
The display should be configurable, but it needn't use something as
general as DSSSL or XSL. Something which lets me edit DocBook (and
probably HTML, and of course in an extensible way to other DTDs) in a
semi-WYSIWYG way would be great---it doesn't need to allow every
detail of appearance fiddling that DSSSL does.
