simple error message

hello all

when i type gnome-session, i get:

gnome-session: error in loading shared libraries
/usr/local/lib/libgnomeui.so.32: undefined symbol: gdk_imlib_get_cache_info

what is GNOME trying to tell me?  i thought i installed imlib-1.9.2.

where can i get a list of tarballs that are NECESSARY for gnome to run
correctly?
