Your suggestion is all fine and dandy, but I'd rather keep my feet to
the ground. Let's first try to make Gnome capable of using the edges
of the screen as a pinning area.

How could the launchers be changed such as to be flush with the edge?

I'm looking for concrete advice. Maybe I'm even going to program this.
