gdm & NIS : duplicate user photos

I have a RH 6.0. The version of gdm is 1.0.0.35.
After I installed ypserv the login-screen showed mit two photos for
every user that is not root/gdm. Apart from that everything works
fine.
Has anyone experienced a similar behaviour?
Could it be, that gdm shows a photo for every NIS-passwd entry and
every /etc/passwd-entry?
Or did I configure something incorectly? NIS or gdm?
