upgrade

hey everyone.

i have a question - and keep in mind that i'm not a developer at all. i
have two machines both running Red Hat 6.0 - everything is pretty much
stock.

i've had the same trouble as many others - with the gnome session
management problems (core dumps and inability to log out) so i've been
following that thread. the problem is - upgrading. getting to the rpm's
to do the ugrade has been a nightmare on it's own. not only that but know
what i need to get to upgrade to the latest stable release (all the
dependencies) has really kept me from dilligently working toward this
upgrade.

i have a printout that says what order i need to install in order to
upgrade gnome. (glib, gtk+, imlib, orbit, gtk-doc, libgtop, gtk-engines,
gnome-libs, gnome-core, control center, gnome-print, mc, gnome-guile,
gnome-python, gnome-objc, gtk--). in order to upgrade one component (from
the stock red hat 6.0) i'm assuming that i have to upgrade everything? if
this is the case...where can one locate the proper rpm's for the process?
(the gnome-ftp site is always unavailable). i've gone to nearly half the
mirror sites and they all contain out of date packages - so that's not
even a possibility.

i'd really like to resolve this issue - i really like gnome a lot and
don't even want to concider switching to KDE. ;-)

if anyone would be willing to offer a bit of advice i'd certainly
appreciate it.
