I presume this is a problem within esd. Using xmms with the OSS output
plugin doesn't skip. I think xmms feeds the audio data too fast into esd
and when esd's buffers are full, it skips.

I don't know how we get to keep them both in sync, though.

Maybe some esd developer could give an answer here.
