Re: Gnome-terminal doesn't show prompt



James, thanks for the suggestion.  I followed your instructions so an ls -l
now gives:

-rwsr-xr-x   1 root   root   7652 Apr 13 19:13 gnome-pty-helper

Unfortunately, this has had no effect.  Any other ideas?
