Wondering if anyone else has had this problem... Using an SBLive! Value
with the Creative drivers... esd generates wierd repetitive noises that
can be disabled with muting PCM in gmix. Updated to newest version of
esound from inconnect.com, did not fix it.
It also does not die and ends up like thus:
7:13pm up 3 days, 23:32, 4 users, load average: 1.09, 1.45, 1.64
66 processes: 63 sleeping, 3 running, 0 zombie, 0 stopped
CPU states: 14.9% user, 85.0% system, 0.0% nice, 0.0% idle
Mem: 128192K av, 125080K used, 3112K free, 12380K shrd, 2620K buff
Swap: 160608K av, 160536K used, 72K free 12216K cached

Needless to say, this is a _problem_. I believe this is why I can't use
xmms reliably for MP3s or ShoutCast. Is this a problem with the Creative
kernel module or something with esd? I tried to gdb the process, but gdb
hung after attaching to the process. I'm not familiar with doing that, so
I dont know if there is something I have to do to issue a stop so I can do
a backtrace/where, etc.
Comments/suggestions appreciated,
Nathan.
