problem with gmc and ee aftre installing 0.99.3 RPMS

I downloaded all files in ftp.gnome.org/pub/GNOME/redhat/0.99.3/i386 and
ftp.gnome.org/pub/GNOME/redhat/0.99.3/noarch.  I installed the RPMs from
both directories with the command: rpm --nodeps -Uvh *.  When I try to
run gmc or ee (and these are the only two things I've tried to run so
far) I get  the error message:

$ gmc
gmc: error in loading shared libraries
/usr/local/lib/libgdk_imlib.so.1: undefined symbol: png_libpng_ver


Anybody have any ideas what's wrong?
