I think that ftp.jimpick.com also has incremental patches if you are
worried about bandwidth.
Now if one of those GNOME build scripts added an option to download
patches off jimpick.com (keep track of age of current snapshot, check if
there is a set of patches to bring local copy up to date and use it if it
exists. fallback on downloading a full snapshot), load on CVS would be
reduced, and you would have the convenience of the cvs command.
